At Southland Graphics screen printing is our specialty. If you are new to screen printing the following section will give you some information and examples of the various techniques and services we can provide. Whether you need 24 or 24,000 shirts from simple one color prints to photo-realistic simulated process we are your one stop shop.
Spot Color screen printing is the most common type of printing on apparel. This process uses pre-mixed ink colors specific to each job. Additional screens must be used for each color in your design. We are able to print up to 14 spot colors, but be aware that each color adds to the total cost of your shirt. You can choose from our pre-mixed house colors or we can match any pantone color available. See our Ink Colors & Fonts section for more information. Spot Color produces the most vibrant colors available but it is limited to simple designs.
This process also know as CMYK printing is the perfect choice for images with lots of tonal range. Four color process printing is very similar to how your inkjet printer works at home. The image to be printed is separated into four primary colors: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. When printed as small halftone dots these colors mix to create a wide spectrum of other colors. Four color process works best on white shirts, however the images may appear slightly undersaturated. If you want text in any color other than black we recommend adding an additional spot color for these areas.
Simulated process printing is the ideal choice for full color photo-realistic printing on light and dark shirts. Similar to four color process the image is broken down into up to eleven primary colors including white and black. When printed these inks mix together on the shirt creating a full spectrum of colors. Simulated process is the perfect marriage between the vibrance of spot color and the tonal range of four color process. Due to the number of colors involved and associated cost we only recommend simulated process on larger orders to help keep your per shirt cost down.
Embroidery is a great choice when you are looking for something a little more formal than a t-shirt. Generally paired with golf shirts, wovens and outerwear embroidery allows your logo to be sewn directly into the garment. There are no limitations to number of colors but pricing is based on the stitch count or size of the design. For this reason embroidery is best suited for small applications such as the left chest of a shirt or the face of a baseball cap. We are not currently supporting online ordering for embroidery so please contact one of our sales reps for more information.
